  • Federal I-9 - Identity verification

The final onboarding step involves the HR manager or hiring manager to complete the I-9 that was submitted by the new employee. In this step, the employee provides various identification documents, one for List A, or one from both List B and List C. The employer is tasked with entering the document information used to identify the employee and then signing the certification section.

While optional, it's recommended that the employer scan the employee's identification and upload it with the I-9. The employer can upload as many scanned images as necessary for future reference.

Employers who participate in E-Verify can compare some official documents that are on file with the government with the ID documents presented by the new employee.
